St Patricks Day in Wales

Wales celebrated St Patricks Day dressing in green and white and each class did lots of Irish activities. We ended the day by the whole school getting together and having a big Irish sing-song and tasting soda bread. We sang traditional Irish songs such as Cockles and Mussles, Danny Boy, O'Rafferty's Motor Car and Paddy McGinty's Goat.

St. David's Day in Ireland

St. Marys on the Hill celebrated St. David's Day on the 2/3/09. Ms O' Donovan's 5th class learned all about the life of St. David and about Welsh culture. They completed an activity book each about Wales and they made Welsh Handprint Dragons. Also, they gave a presentation to the whole school about what they learned so that everyone could join in the celebrations.

Video Conferences - Wales and Poland

Wales and Poland have had successful video conferences, one with our older children (11 year olds) and one with our younger children (6 year olds). Both conferences were successful and the Polish and Welsh children were able to share information about their cultures, National Costumes and Dances and life living in these countries. The children benefitted greatly from these experiences. Thank you Poland.
